This is the Chwihanjeong Pavilion, the first pavilion you meet at the Ongnyucheon Stream entrance. There used to be so many pine trees around it that it used to be cold during the summer. king Sukjong praised the summer scenery around the Chwihanjeong, of the green trees and the forest. He compared the greenery here to the virtuous mind of an educated and virtuous person. The green trees and beautiful flowers are truly worth admiring, and the waterfall can be heard for a long time outside the rail. A shower of rain just passed and the wind has stopped, and every leaf of the garden hears the cicada cry. As they grow densely and surround the pavilion they glow brightly after overcoming the snowy cold't is admirable, your virtue of a gentleman which is unchanging and unmoving whether it is harsh or relaxed. Near the Ongnyucheon Soyoam, in the upper part of the Chwihanjeong, was the king's well. Now all that remains is a stone cover. Can you imagine the king taking a drink here after walking through the secret garden, and resting here for a while to forget the heat? Back in the age without fans or air-conditioning, wouldn't one have automatically sought for this place?
