The Daejojeon Hall serves as the sleeping quarters of the king and queen. Daejo also means 'great achievement', which refers to the birth of a wise prince.

Shall we look at the roof? There is no Yongmaru on the roof of the Daejojeon, unlike the roofs of other buildings inside the palace.
This is because the king is symbolized by a dragon, and people thought it was inappropriate to have another dragon pressing down upon the place where the king slept. While dragons have often been portrayed as evil entities in the west, they were regarded as great and dignified in the east, because of their magnificent and grandeur character.
Many small and large buildings in the front yard of Daejojeon surround the building. This is where many court ladies and servants used to stay and serve the king and queen.
