Nakseonjae Hall

Nakseonjae Hall
This is Nakseonjae Hall.
Nakseonjae was built when King Heonjong received Soonhwagung Kyungbin Kim as his concubine, and used this place as her private living quarter. He sought a modest life, and did not even paint a single piece when building the structure. He was however particularly interested in calligraphy, and hung the writing of his favorite calligrapher, Kim Jeong-Hee, on the signboard.

When you enter the yard, you can see a maru linked to the main building of Nakseonjae, and it almost looks like it is gloating. Clouds decorate the maru, which contains the meaning that this is a world above clouds. There is a symbol of ice near the furnace below, which was put there as a precaution against fire, since the place burns fire for heating.
