Sangnyangjeong Pavilion

Sangnyangjeong Pavilion
Nakseonjae, Seokbokheon, and Sugangjae each have their own small secret gardens. Each also has a pavilion.

The beautiful pavilion in Nakseonjae's secret garden was called Sangryangjeong. Its original name was Pyeongwonru, which meant 'maintaining good diplomatic relations with foreign countries'. It represents the will to establish good relations with the various western countries Joseon met with during the 19th century. The building right next to it was where books were kept. The round Manwolmun can be found on the east fence wall of Sangryangjeong. This door leads to Seunghwaru Pavilion.
