Western Gwollaegaksa

Western Gwollaegaksa
while those outside were named Gwulwaegaksa. Being inside the palace meant they were situated closer to the king and thus very important, as well as being tasked to carry out the king's orders immediately. As the word Seo-pyeon meaning west-side signifies, there were other Gwollaegaksa inside Changdeokgung Palace. In fact there were two more, each to the South and East of the Injeongjeon. However, there is little trace of them, and only the Western Gwollaegaksa, on which you are standing right now, remains. There are four government buildings here. With the Geumchun stream at the center, Okdang and Yakbang are to the east, while Gyujanggak and Geomseocheong are to the west.
