Chanmakdan (Food Inspection Platform)

This tile-paved platform was used for hygiene inspection for the kitchen utensils and ingredients arranged for the preparation of food offered to the royal ancestral spirits at a memorial rite. As the importance of the rite grew during the late Joseon Period, the inspection began to be performed by the king himself.
