There are three gates providing entrances to Jeongjeon Hall (Main Hall), built to have different sizes and shapes according to who used them. The south gate boasts of the largest structure among the three because it was used by the spirits of the royal ancestors; the western gate is the smallest and least ornamented because it was used by government officials and musicians. The eastern gate was used by the king and is, accordingly, medium-sized and modestly decorated.
