Akgongcheong Pavilion(Musicians’ Pavilion) of Jeongjeon Hall
Akgongcheong Pavilion (Musicians’ Pavilion) of Jeongjeon Hall (Main Hall) is located between Jongmyo’s two principal shrine buildings: Jeongjeon and Yeongnyeongjeon Halls. It is a pavilion-style building used by court musicians for practices and rehearsals and when they prepared for the upcoming royal ancestral rites held at the shrine. For the Joseon rulers, music played a very important role in their activities to govern the people and bring peace and harmony to their country. The performance of the musicians and dancers was focused on praising the great efforts and achievements by the royal ancestors of the Joseon Dynasty in the course of its foundation and praying to them for the dynasty’s peace and prosperity.
