This shrine was built to honor King Gongmin (1351-1374), the 31st ruler of the Goryeo Dynasty preceding the Joseon Dynasty. During his reign, King Gongmin launched aggresive reform, including the exclusion of officials who were freindly with the Yuan Dynasty, to fight the intrusion of the Yuan Dynasty.
